57.4 The Necessities and Needs for a Decent Life
57.4.1 Employment opportunities for all at meaningful work at sustainable, living wages with job/income security for all working-age people in safe, just and dignified conditions, with paid vacations, primarily providing necessities and needs of life for a decent life for the current generation and ensuring the necessities and need are available for future generations.
57.4.1.1 Where possible, individuals should be able to choose the type of work they do and its location.
57.4.1.2 “For all” includes individuals in prison and undocumented immigrants.
57.4.1.3 The government must provide many of these employment opportunities. Too many of the businessmen in the private sector’s focus on high profits and high executives salary not people. Meaningful work is a necessity and need of life.
57.4.1.4 Income security for life in particular the young, disabled and elderly
57.4.2 Affordable, provided in the most effective and efficient manner and subsidized as necessary:
57.4.2.1 Decent housing
57.4.2.2 Nutritious, tasty food
57.4.2.3 Clean water for homes, businesses and industry
57.4.2.4 Decent warm clothing
57.4.2.5 Household goods
57.4.2.6 Clean energy for warmth, cooling, heating, cooking, manufacturing and transportation
57.4.2.7 Comprehensive single payer medicare for all including physical, dental, behavioral, vision, hearing and long term care.
57.4.2.8 Double all current Social Security and disability payments and provide adequate safety nets for the aged, disabled, unemployed and those living in poverty.
57.4.2.9 Comprehensive, convenient public transportation
57.4.2.10 Local personal and commercial, banking, savings, and loan services
57.4.2.11 Telephone and internet services
57.4.2.12 Recreation, sports, entertainment, theater, TV, cultural, art, etc. (live and via multimedia)
57.4.3 Publicly financed:
57.4.3.1 Meaningful, quality educational childcare & pre-K through a college education or equivalent and lifetime vocational, technical and professional training, not merely to get jobs but to grow and flourish as human beings
57.4.3.2 Safe, stable, secure, clean, neighborhoods, communities and cities
57.4.3.3 Civil, human and labor rights and fundamental freedoms guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution and the International Covenants on Human Rights universally observed and respected and protected from violation by tyrannical forces and unjust governments
57.4.3.4 Global environment, natural resources, protected and preserved, rate of global climate change slowed and effects of climate change mitigated, so that future generations will have safe and clean air, water and food supplies and will be able to enjoy the beauty and bounty of nature that past generations have enjoyed.
57.4.3.5 Repaired, modernized infrastructure that expands as the population grows
57.4.3.6 Permanent world peace
57.4.3.7 Cultural, political and economic institutions that work to benefit all, not just the privileged few
57.4.3.8 Economic justice for all with much greater equality much less inequality.
57.4.3.9 Humane, restorative justice for all
57.4.3.10 A sustainable, green resource based economy
57.4.3.11 Governments organized and staffed with public servants truly dedicated to insure that these necessities and needs are available for all.
